LAUSCH are an alternative rock band from Vienna, active since 2005. Across six studio albums and a live EP they push 90s rock, post-rock and progressive into something loud, melodic and slightly off-centre. Reviewers keep reaching for the same three names: Biffy Clyro, Muse and Long Distance Calling. The band have played Nova Rock, the FM4 stage at Donauinselfest and, in April 2026, Arena Vienna. Their singles are in regular rotation on Austrian radio 88.6. The most recent one is "Fortitude" (2025); a live version of it was played and filmed at the Arena show and is online as a video. A new single follows in 2026.

LAUSCH have been playing in Vienna since 2005. Six studio albums and a live EP later, the band around singer and guitarist Alexander Lausch have settled on a sound that avoids the obvious route. 90s rock guitars meet the long breath of post-rock and progressive structures, loud where it counts and fragile a bar later.
The records were made by a trio. The stage line-up grew around it. Ines Dallaji first sang backing vocals on Quiet Men (2017) and has been part of the live band since; David Ruhmer joined at the end of 2024 on percussion and backing vocals, and the songs now being written are being written with him.
Reviewers have been reaching for the same three names for over a decade: Biffy Clyro, Muse and Long Distance Calling. Rock Hard compared Alexander Lausch's singing to a young Freddie Mercury and added that "were LAUSCH British and not Austrian, they would have made their breakthrough long ago". mica – music austria put it more bluntly: "Alexander Lausch might just have the best rock voice in all of Austria."
How far the band can travel became clear early. In 2013 the video for "Canada is Falling" was published on the entry page of thepiratebay.se, at the time one of the most visited sites on the internet, and passed 150,000 views on YouTube within 48 hours. On stage, LAUSCH have played Nova Rock, the FM4 Planet stage at Donauinselfest, a support slot for Mudhoney at Szene Wien, ORF Radiokulturhaus, Ottensheim Open Air and Lott Festival. In April 2026 they played Arena Vienna at Echoes of Erebos Festival, where a live version of "Fortitude" was played and filmed for the band's YouTube channel.
Radio has stayed with them. "We Might As Well Dance" held FM4 rotation in 2016, and 88.6 plays "Glitter, Gold and Acid", "Luck" and "Fortitude" regularly. Their 2020 version of Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way" has travelled further than anything else they have recorded. The most recent album is Love & Order (2023), followed by the singles "Luck" (2024) and "Fortitude" (2025). A new single arrives in 2026, and an album is in planning.
